Occupational Therapy (OT) is a regulated medical profession that helps to solve the problems that interfere with a person's ability to do the things that are important to them. OT can help a person develop new skills needed for day-to-day activities, learn new ways of doing things, regain skills lost following an injury or illness, or adapt a client's environment so that it works better for them. Pediatric Occupational Therapists work with children whose abilities may be reduced because of physical disabilities, developmental delays, learning problems, neurodiversity, mental health issues, injury, chronic diseases, and genetic conditions.
Occupational Therapist's enable their clients to participate and achieve success in everyday activities like:
Occupational Therapists must be registered with their provincial regulator in order to legally practice in Canada. Hopscotch Kids Occupational Therapists are all registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
OT can help you balance and achieve success in work, rest and play and help your child live life to the fullest!
Hopscotch Kids co-owners, Lareina and Sheryl, have over 25 years of OT experience specializing in the area of paediatrics. We have selected the therapists on our team very carefully, to ensure you receive services from an OT who is passionate, dedicated, and fun!
We provide holistic, child and family-centered, play-based therapy in the comfort of your own home.
We hope to take the inconvenience of driving to and from the clinic away, by coming to you. Most families have very busy lives, and we understand that it can be stressful when rushing between work/school/extra-curriculars and appointments. We know from many years of experience, that assessing and offering services in an environment that families are most comfortable in, can make a big difference!
We will listen to your concerns and address the areas that you feel are most important to your child's everyday life, using the toys, tools and activities you already have in your home. We can offer you our experience, skills and knowledge, and we can work together as a team to help your child develop the functional skills needed for everyday life.
We can support your family by consulting and collaborating with other medical professionals involved in your child's care, and with other significant people in your child's life, in order to develop a treatment plan that will help your child achieve their goals!
We can assist by assessing your child to determine the root causes of their daily struggles, setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely) goals, and providing treatment, consultation and collaboration to start your child on the path to reaching their full potential.
We would love to help you to put the FUN in functional!
